What makes a couple in their 50s decide to try naturism?
In April 2023, Channel 4 aired a new program called “Naked Education“, hosted by Anna Richardson, Yinka Bokinni and Dr Alex George. The program was dedicated to body positivity and sought to normalise all body types, sizes, colours and disabilities while also debunking many myths about our bodies and breaking down many stereotypes.
The series received a mixed response from the critics in the British Press, largely because naked adults were shown to a group of teenagers, who used the opportunity to ask sensible questions, while also questioning their own body beliefs. We found their observations interesting and insightful and, rather than corrupting young minds as some journalists claimed, we believe that the young people went away with a more positive mindset about their bodies, greater acceptance of the difference in others and useful facts about sex rather than learning from pornography they had viewed online.
The program also started a conversation between ourselves.
Yes, we’re in our 50s and we have some scars, lumps, bumps and curves, but who really cares? We enjoy relaxing in the sunshine, but dislike wearing swimsuits, and so often strip-off in our private garden. Could we relax while naked in the presence of others? The answer to this was a resounding, maybe! If were were amongst other naturists, who would care?
Our search began for a suitable location. We joined British Naturism, we scoured the internet and we subscribed to H&E Magazine. All provided a wealth of information and advice, but also many dead-ends.
This blog will aim to document our thoughts, decisions and experiences as we journey into the naturist world.

Love this. Always keep and open mind and an open heart!
