It’s just one week to go until our first, and hopefully not last, venture into the world of Naturism when we fly to Crete and then to Vritomartis Naturist Resort for seven days of relaxation and sunshine.
We have read all we can about the resort and particularily enjoyed the account written by Merah Filko in her travel blog, A Change of Place.
Now our thoughts turn to, “what to pack for a naturist holiday?” You might think that’s one of the easiest questions to answer – Nothing – but it’s not so easy. Aside from the usual travel essentials such as electrical adapters, toiletries, sun-cream and books, what clothes should we take?
- Sarong / Pareo – The resort does require guests to cover up in any public, indoor areas so we bought a small number of sarongs and pareos. For hygiene reasons, a good quality pareo can also be used instead of a towel when sitting in public areas. Vinted proved to be an excellent source for these, at a reasonable cost.
- Beach shoes – Filaki naturist beach is approximately 700 metres from the resort, but it is a pebble / shingle beach and so many visitors recommend using beach shoes to walk around and when entering the sea.
- Evening clothes – Vritomartis is a naturist hotel, however guests are expected to be clothed in the evening. We expect that the weather in October will be cool in the evening, so this may be welcome!
- Shoes and a sun hat – While the outdoor areas of the resort are clothing-optional and it’s compulsory to be nude in the pool and the beach, no-one wants to suffer from cut feet or sunstroke, so we’re packing our flip-flops and sun hats.
